Health, Safety and Environment
ConvaTech is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment across our business and to achieving continuous HSE improvements throughout the delivery of our services. We set high safety standards for all levels of personnel to ensure we continually improve our HSE performance as we strive towards our goal of ZeroHarm.
ConvaTech’s HSE management system is aligned to the requirements of Australian Standard 4801. Each year ConvaTech reviews its safety theme and publishes a new theme to remind all staff of the importance of safety.
Our 3 previous safety themes have been:
- 2014 Theme - HSE Personal Responsibility
- 2015 Theme – Safety Leadership and Accountability
- 2016 Theme – Safety Awareness and Commitment (our current safety theme).
ConvaTech employ a risk management approach to our business operations based on the continuous improvement cycle of “Plan, Do, Check, Act”. To achieve this cyclic process, we establish HSE strategies that are supported by effective planning and resourcing of key issues and projects, undertake all work as per agreed upon processes with regards to safety at all times, check and evaluate the outcomes of key HSE deliverables, and ensure that we act on areas that are identified for improvement and or review in a timely and efficient manner.
We ensure a continuous safety improvement approach through the development and review of HSE policies and processes, conducting formal and informal audits across critical HSE areas, and utilising HSE performance data, key learnings and stakeholder feedback to identify opportunities for safety and service delivery improvements.
Our continuous safety improvement approach also ensures that we can support stakeholders within our business to monitor and continuously improve health & safety in their service coordination and delivery, and provide a structured mechanism to assess and improve their compliance with safety standards, if the need arises.
Finally, ConvaTech also recognises that working at heights is a high risk task within our business. Where the need to complete tasks while working at heights cannot be eliminated, ConvaTech will apply a risk management approach to ensure all appropriate measures are taken to minimise the risks to health and safety.
We will do this by ensuring relevant operators are competent and hold current relevant licenses, providing and maintaining fit for purpose safety equipment and facilitating further education and training regarding the risks associated with working at heights.
Our Safety Management System includes procedures to cover areas such as:
- Risk Management
- Hazard Identification
- Handling of Hazardous Substances and Dangerous Goods
- Manual Handling
- Working at Heights
- Confined Spaces
- Contractor Management
- Injury Management
- Return to Work Procedures
