Belle Banne Newcastle was established on 23 April 1985 in conjunction with Belle Banne Australia (now known as Belle Banne Flexco) as a distributor for Belle Banne belt cleaning equipment and a range of Flexco belt fasteners to the mining industry. It became obvious that belt cleaners required more than just salespeople to support the product from both client and Belle Banne Newcastle's points of view. This led to the establishment in 1988 of the first Service Division in Australia dedicated to the maintenance of belt cleaners.

The effect of this maintenance division was to highlight awareness of the value of correctly installed and maintained belt cleaners. This type of conveyor equipment was then placed in the essential and cost effective category rather than in the luxury category.

Belle Banne Newcastle's product range broadened through demand to include lagging materials, ploughs, rollers and conveyor belting. This allowed Belle Banne Newcastle to develop a systems approach to bulk materials handling.

As the Company grew the directors felt that the Company name no longer reflected the full range of services provided. Therefore, a decision was made on 7 December 1998, to change the Company name from Belle Banne Newcastle to ConvaTech Pty Ltd, thereby creating the company as we now know it.

Today ConvaTech is a fully integrated bulk materials service company with engineering, design drafting, inspection and testing, mechanical and rubber maintenance divisions. These divisions are supported by fully developed quality, occupational safety, health and environment, training, information technology and administration systems. The Company employs 300 full-time employees in strategic locations throughout Australia and remains the innovator in total conveyor maintenance with a prove track record.
