Port Hedland - WA
ConvaTech has been awarded the contract to provide conveyor system maintenance and inspection services for a two year period, with the option for extension of this contract.
ConvaTech has relocated an experienced supervisor and mechanical technician from Newcastle to Port Hedland to carry out the scope of this work.
This project commenced in June 2008.

Eraring Power Station - NSW
ConvaTech was awarded the Operations and Maintenance Contract for the Eraring Rail Unloader facility at Eraring Power Station, for a minimum of two years.
As part of this contract, ConvaTech is responsible for the unloading of coal rail wagons into receival hoppers and then the transfer of this coal along two conveyor belts to the main Power Station coal storage area. ConvaTech is also responsible for the maintenance of the total facility including rail tracks, structure, vibro feeders, conveyor systems, fire systems and controls as well as general grounds maintenance. This facility is required to work to suit the needs of the Power Station and as such, we are required to man the facility around the clock when necessary.

Port Kembla - NSW
Port Kembla Coal Terminal awarded ConvaTech a contract for the lapout and replacement of NC9 conveyor belt. The project involved mobilisation of all labour and equipment from Newcastle to complete the work. The conveyor belt was ST 2200 x 1500mm wide and approx 2.3km long. The scope of work included the design and manufacture of diverting pulleys and frames as well as the design of the concrete footings to support these frames. The conveyor belt was spliced and lapped out on the ground next to the conveyor over approx. 2.5 weeks from the end of September 2007. The conveyor belt was then replaced during a 5-day shutdown in the middle of October.
ConvaTech also replaced NC2 conveyor belt during this same shutdown period. |

Prony Power Station - New Caledonia

Austrian Energy awarded ConvaTech a contract for the installation and splicing of the Coal Relay, Incline, Feed 1 and Feed 2 conveyor belts at the new power station built to provide power for the Goro Nickel site and surrounding area. The project involved the mobilisation of all labour and equipment from Newcastle to complete the work. All of the conveyor belts were 1000mm wide 3 ply belts with the Relay conveyor belt being 1,120m long and requiring 5 splices. The project was completed over 3.5 weeks from the end of August 2007.

Goro Nickel SAS - New Caledonia
Goro Nickel SAS awarded ConvaTech the contract for installation and splicing of the overland, whaf, stockyard and stacker boom conveyor belts, for their new nickel processing plant in New Caledonia. The project involved the mobilisation of all labour and equipment from Newcastle to project manage and complete the work. The overland conveyor belt was ST2250 x 1200mm wide and approx. 6km long.
The $2.5 million contract involved 3 phases, with the project requiring an entirely customised process:
- Development of the methodology to install the overland conveyor belt
- Design and construction of specific hydraulic and manual belt clamps, belt stands and installation of equipment.
- Design of civil foundations to support the larger equipment.
- The project was completed over approx. 3 months finishing in April 2007.
