On 1 June 2007 ConvaTech Pty Ltd and its employees achieved a major milestone – reaching 1 year Lost Time Injury (LTI) free. To celebrate this notable achievement the company held a celebratory BBQ at Hunter Valley Gardens on Sunday 9 September 2007 for all employees and their families. The day was a great success with a jumping castle and clowns for the kids, and the chance to catch up with fellow employees and their families in a non-work setting.
Approx. 130 people attended the event and everyone there on the day enjoyed themselves immensely. The day culminated with speeches from Peter Slattery, Craig Philpotts and Steve Houston, who all spoke of the importance that this achievement holds from both a commercial sense and from a company and employee welfare perspective. Ross Vandyke and Justin Nimmo responded on behalf of employees – speaking of the genuine commitment all employees have to build on this achievement and strive for zero Medical Treatment Injuries (MTI).
Once again thankyou and congratulations to all employees who achieved this enviable accomplishment and thankyou to everyone who was there to help us celebrate this achievement.
Finally, a special thankyou must go to Steve Houston and Rosie Taylor who went to great lengths organising the day and to all the people who volunteered their time and efforts to ensure that it ran smoothly |

ConvaTech is proud to announce the commencement of our first international project, having been awarded a contract by Goro Nickel SAS for the installation and splicing of the overland conveyor belt for their new nickel processing plant in New Caledonia.
The rapid expansion and success of the business throughout Australia has seen ConvaTech recognised on an international scale as a leading provider of conveyor services. This recognition has driven demand for ConvaTech to provide its services at an international level.
The project for Goro Nickel SAS involves the mobilisation of all labour and equipment from Newcastle to project manage and complete the work. The overland conveyor belt is ST2250 x 1200mm wide and is approx 6km long.
The scope of work included the development of the methodology to install the conveyor belt as well as design and construction of specific hydraulic and manual belt clamps, belt stands and installation equipment, and the design of civil foundations to support the larger equipment. The ConvaTech team commenced work on 15 January 2007, with the project expected to take six weeks to complete.
ConvaTech looks forward to the successful completion of this project and to further expanding its international services in the future.
